Michael Filipiak

Michael Filipiak has said "Frank Handlen, distinguished marine painter of Kennebunkport, Maine was my teacher, mentor and friend who taught me the value of painting outdoors. The experience proved to be invaluable and led to my development as a painter." The countryside, river and canals of Hunterdon and Bucks Counties and the rugged coast of Maine inspire my work in pastels, in all seasons. Whether painting a landscape or seascape, the ever changing light is always a challenge to the artist.

Michael graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Fine Arts with a Minor in History, from Waynesburg, College, Pennsylvania.

A resident of Flemington, where he maintains a studio, Michael has exhibited extensively througout the area in Juried exhibitions winning awards from the PHillips Mill Annual Fall exhibition won the Patrons award in 2003, Works on Paper award at Artsbridge and the top award at the Hunterdon County Cultural & Heritage. Commission, at the Prallsville Mills in 2006. His work is represented by the Mast Cove Gallery in Kennebunkport, Maine and the Coryell Gallery.
